Senior Spotlight Emily Rains

This week for senior spotlight we are featuring Emily Rains. Emily lives in Remsen with her Mom: Amber, Dad: Eugene, and three sisters: Addison, Hailey, and Halleigh. Throughout high school Emily has been involved in choir which she lettered in, as well as receiving the Dundee Award from Mr. Wimmer. Some of her favorite memories from high school include watching class olympics, and seeing the students come together to support one another. Outside of school, Emily spends her time reading, listening to music, and spending quality time with family. Some advice Emily would like to share with the underclassmen is to get all your needed work done first, don’t procrastinate. From her sophomore year to senior year, Emily has worked at Mrs. B’s as a cashier.
Emily’s favorite school lunch is “those cheese bread pizza boat things.” Her greatest accomplishment in high school is “challenging myself and setting expectations, and actually following through with those expectations throughout high school.” Some of Emily’s biggest pet peeves include loud chewing, slow walkers, and people who don’t understand personal space. Her favorite artists are Taylor Swift, and Bruno Mars, and her favorite movies are Halloween Town, High School Musical, and Starstruck. Emily’s biggest fears include a fear of the dark, social phobia, and claustrophobia. Her favorite year of high school is senior year because she made a plan to get things done and stay on track, and her plan is coming to fruition. Next year, Emily plans to attend Western Iowa Tech Community College for Early Childhood Education. Some things Emily would like to accomplish in her life is to read all of her books, be able to comfortably handle loans and bills, and make it through college to get her desired job. Emily would like people to think that by how she lived her life that she loved her friends and family, and she did her work, that she justified the space that she took up.
